We Have also had a number of reports about young Cyclists doing wheelies down the Ridgeway against the one way system and getting very close to knocking a pedestrian down.  This is in contravention to the highway code that applies to all cyclists. 

The Road Traffic Act 1988 Dangerous Cycling refers to riding a bike in a manner that falls far below the standard expected of a competent cyclist posing a serious risk to people or property.  Dangerous cycling carries a maximum fine of £2500 and careless cycling carries a £1000 Pound fine. 

Part of this act states Failing to Yield to pedestrians on crossings or footpaths is part of the offence. During this last three months we have stopped numerous cyclist and advised them of the above situation.
